Heritage

The Trowbridge area is steeped in history - the town and its surrounding villages have long been important settlements that have witnessed numerous changes from Norman times through the Agricultural and Industrial Revolutions and onto current times.

This diversity of heritage is clearly visible as Trowbridge has a large number of Listed Buildings and the town’s industrial history is very evident in the old mill and brewery buildings that dot the town.

Trowbridge’s celebrated Museum, itself housed in an old mill building offers a first class record of our local Heritageheritage, featuring displays and information charting local history with working examples of the woollen mill machinery that helped shape the town in the C19th and much of the C20th.
The Trowbridge Civic Society play an important role in preserving the Town’s unique historical and architectural heritage.
